Bookmarks in 3DEXPERIENCE are a powerful tool for organizing designs and data, helping users keep track of important files and projects. However, sometimes bookmarks may not be visible to all users. If you’ve encountered missing bookmarks in the 3DEXPERIENCE Bookmark Editor, don’t worry; there are several ways to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Understanding 3DEXPERIENCE Bookmarks
Bookmarks function like tags, allowing users to efficiently organize and search their data. They can be nested within other bookmarks to create an organized hierarchy, making it easier to locate files when needed. The Bookmark Editor app provides a way to manage these bookmarks, offering customization options and filtering tools.

Common Reasons for Missing Bookmarks
If your bookmarks are missing for some users, consider the following potential causes:
- Private Collaborative Space without Invited Members
- Bookmarks are tied to specific collaborative spaces. If a bookmark is saved to a collaborative space to which you are not allowed access, the bookmark will not be visible.
- Maturity State set to Draft
- If a bookmark is set to a Draft maturity state, it will only be visible to the user who created it. For others to have visibility, the maturity state needs to be set to In Work.
- Filtering
- The Bookmark Editor allows users to apply customizations. If certain filters are enabled, bookmarks may be hidden from view.
- Indexing Delays
- When saving changes or uploading new files, indexing may take a few minutes. Switching to Database Mode can help reveal the latest modifications.
Steps to Recover Missing Bookmarks
1. Check Your Collaborative Space Access
The 3DSpace app allows you to define preferences and access for collaborative spaces. For everyone to have access, it’s easiest to have bookmarks saved to the Common Space. If it was saved to the incorrect space, you can use the Move command in the Bookmark Editor.

If the bookmark must be saved to a specific collaborative space that is defined with Private visibility, be sure to add appropriate members to the space.

2. Maturity State set to Draft
This is a common reason for missing bookmarks, as a new bookmark will be in the Draft maturity state by default. Draft bookmarks will only be visible to the owner. To make it visible to all users, change the maturity state to In Work by having the owner click on the Draft attribute under the Maturity State column in the Bookmark Editor. This will allow a transition to In Work.

The Collaborative Spaces Configuration Center has an option to have all bookmarks be created with an In Work maturity state. An administrator can open the Collaborative Spaces Configuration Center app and select Bookmark to enable the option ‘When creating a Bookmark, set the maturity state to In Work.’

3. Adjust Filters in Bookmark Editor
The filter option at the top of the Bookmark Editor pane might be filtering to show only bookmarks you own. Click the filter icon and be sure the ‘Owned by Me’ option is deselected.

4. Switch to Database Mode
If indexing delays are suspected, switch to Database Mode to view the latest updates. However, it should not take longer than a few minutes for the indexing of bookmarks to complete.
