The 3DEXPERIENCE Scenario Manager in the Structural Performance Engineer role and Structural Mechanics Engineer role on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is a hidden gem when modifying the simulation type of structural analysis case. Imagine a situation where you set up a nonlinear static simulation and later realize analysis should be an implicit dynamic instead of a static simulation.
Using the 3DEXPERIENCE Scenario Manager
Instead of deleting the analysis study and redefining it again, Scenario Manager provides an option to modify the simulation type. This applies to general analysis cases, structural analysis, and thermal analysis cases in your simulation scenario.
Scenario Manager
The Scenario Manager also enables you to review the analysis case features and their status in each step.
Analysis case features
Four views of simulation content
Each view allows you to perform essential operations such as create, edit, delete, and deactivate (where applicable). Arrows at the upper left of the manager allow for changing between the views.
The Analysis Case view
Shows all the general analysis cases, structural analysis cases, and thermal analysis cases in the current simulation.
The Procedure view
Shows all the steps of the current analysis case. It also shows the Model Data, which is a container for initial conditions and features that you can create only in the first step of an analysis case. This would include general contact and surface-based contact.
The Feature State view
Shows all features in the current step and their propagation state (for example, created, propagated, deactivated) in this step.
The Feature State view shows all features in the current step and their propagation state (for example, created, propagated, deactivated)
The Feature History view
Shows the propagation state of a feature throughout all steps of the current analysis case. It also shows the scale factor and the amplitude applied to the feature in all steps (where applicable).
Modify an analysis step
When it comes to speeding up Simulation productivity of designers and product engineers, a more valuable option provided by the Scenario Manager is the ability to modify an analysis step.
If there is a Static step already set up and you want to change it from Static to Quasi-static or even Explicit Dynamic step, you can easily modify it right within the Scenario manager.
Within the structural analysis case, with Step highlighted you can select the Replace Step button as shown in the image below.
Replace Step button
Depending on whether you are using the Structural Performance Engineer or Mechanics Engineer role, you will be presented with a list of analysis step types when clicking the Replace Step option.
The figure below shows the option when using the Replace button in the Structural Performance Engineer role.

Scenario Manager: Structural Mechanics Engineer
With the Replace step feature in Scenario Manager you can easily modify the analysis step type without having to redefine the simulation setup. This saves time improving simulation productivity.
